Happy New Year! Mary here and welcome to Now You’re Talking Network’s January 2021 newsletter edition! This newsletter is titled New Year, New Me?

It begins with a guest post by Rebecca Sano. The co-founder of intentionry.com, a place for ideas and solutions on personal finance and intentional living. The husband and wife co-founders also recently launched The Intentionry Podcast. Connect with them on Instagram, @intentiony.co and Facebook, @intentionry

You. Are. Enough. Although this truth is contrary to the implicit narratives thrust upon us through TV shows, music videos, social media and advertisements, it is true.

So often the messages we receive through these channels tell us that we are not enough. We are not enough unless we own a particular gadget, body shape, relationship, career, business, bank balance, personality, name-brand or Instagram following.

The ‘new year, new me’ motto carries along with it a similar narrative of less than enough in the way it promotes reinventing oneself in the new year. Thing is, we wouldn’t need a ‘new me’ if we already considered ourselves enough.

Early January, however, this maxim drives us to revolutionary ideas, goals, intentions, standards, habits, routines and expectations all in the hope of acquiring a newer, slicker, shinier, straight-off-the-shelf version of ourselves to replace the old.

We wait eagerly in anticipation for this better, smarter, healthier, sexier, wealthier, and more efficient, hardworking, loving, successful ‘new’ us, all the while negating our innate value and worth.

Yes, change is good; but the potential for that transformation is already within you, not something you need to acquire.

You are enough and, therefore, you do not need to look beyond yourself to make 2021 phenomenal.

You already possess everything you need to succeed, and nothing can make you anymore enough than you already are.

So in 2021, just consider being yourself because you are enough for this year!

Grow through applying your best in everything you do because the best you will not let you down.

The best you will follow their passions, prioritise health, demand their worth, contribute to others selflessly, love unconditionally and thrive on all sides.

Relinquish the idea of a ‘new you’ this year. Instead, focus on giving the ‘you’ who is enough.

Wow! Thank you  Rebecca Sano!
